The summer heat is upon us and now more than ever it’s time to make sure you are drinking enough water. Critics will argue over how much you should drink, but they definitely all agree you should drink water.
“Think of water as a nutrient your body needs that is present in liquids, plain water, and foods. All of these are essential daily to replace the large amounts of water lost each day,” says Joan Koelemay, RD, dietitian for the Beverage Institute, an industry group.
If your water intake does not match what’s going out, your body can become dehydrated and this can be detrimental to your health. You should increase your water intake when exercising and during the warmer summer months.
