Run for Wounded Heroes
Fontis Water is proud to be the official water sponsor of many races throughout the metro Atlanta area. However, we are especially proud to be a part of the upcoming Run for Wounded Heroes Race. The race will take place Saturday, August 2, in historic downtown Kennesaw, and is a part of the Kennesaw Grand Prix race series.
Run for Wounded Heroes, Inc. is a non-profit organization created to host a 5K race to raise funds for the Wounded Warrior Project. This idea came from Jonathan Borden, who at the time was only 17 years old. He had seen biographies about severely wounded service men and women on the Military Channel. The biographies he watched were produced by the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) to raise awareness of these severely wounded heroes. The shows had a great impact on Jonathan to make a difference and that is what he did by creating this race.
The WWP is a non-profit organization that helps those service members. Their mission is as follows:
- To raise awareness and enlist the public’s aid for the needs of and women,
- To help severely injured service members aid and assist each other,
- To provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of severely injured service members.
The race will begin at 6:30 AM with packet pick-up and registration. A 1 mile fun run will take place at 7:30 AM and the 5K will begin at 8:00 AM. Registration information can be found on the official website. We are excited about being a part of this race and hope to see you all there!
