Steps to a Healthier Thanksgiving
One week from today millions of Americans will gather at the table for turkey, dressing, potatoes, casseroles and pumpkin pie. There will be sweet tea, wine and hopefully plenty of Fontis Water. But it is important to remember that Thanksgiving is only one day out of the year, and there is no need to blow a week’s worth of calories on one day. Health.com actually published a great article on ways to enjoy a healthier Thanksgiving and the tips were so easy, we had to share.
Tip number one: Take a post Thanksgiving walk. After eating all of your favorites, why not take a stroll around the neighborhood. A quick walk is a great way to burn off those extra calories.
Tip number two: Walk around and visit with your guests. What a great idea! Rather than laying on the couch or sitting in the recliner, get up, move and chat with family and friends.
Tip number three: Make a date to work out with a friend the next morning. Knowing you are hitting the gym on Friday morning, might make you think twice before having a second helping of lunch.
Tip number four: Ask to help clean the dishes. Enough said on this one. The cook of the day’s meal will be grateful for the extra pairĀ of hands.
Tip number five: Stop eating when you are full. It is not a contest to see who can eat the most. Eat what you want, and when you are done, simply step away from the table.
